The way we walk can affect the way we run….
….and, as we spend more time in our lives (usually) walking rather than running, what we see in clinic when assessing walking gait can indicate issues that also affect running gait and, sometimes, injury.
Whilst there is no one-to-one relationship between what we do when we walk and then how we run, there are some signs that we see in clinic that are more predictive of issues that affect running such as leg shape, muscle stability, muscle and joint flexibility and the way the body adapts when each foot hits the ground.
Read on below and you might be able to see your walking pattern and how this might be an indication of running injury that you have or actions you can consider to prevent injury occurring in the first place!
