Strength training with weights is associated with a lower risk of premature death

We regularly work with patients of all ages using weights to strengthen as part of their rehab. The latest research in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, confirms the positive impact of weight-training on better long-term health. When strength training twice a week was combined with meeting cardio-vascular exercise targets, the risk of premature death was decreased by up to 47%!

A great resource to find out how much cardio-vascular exercise and strength training per week is recommended across all age groups is the WHO Physical Activity Guidelines, which I point my patients in the direction of every day.
